PROJECT

Warwick University - Turnkey Polytunnels

Ebtech Glasshouse Systems is proud to have completed the installation of nine state-of-the-art polytunnels at Warwick University, supporting the institution’s expanding research capabilities in horticultural science.

Project Highlights:

  • Ventilation:
All nine polytunnels feature side wall roll-up ventilation, ensuring optimal air circulation. Two tunnels are additionally equipped with quarantine porches for controlled access.
  • Tunnel Specifications:
Each structure spans 8.0 metres in width, with lengths varying from 16.0 to 32.0 metres to accommodate a range of experimental needs.
  • Cladding:
Roofs are covered with 100-micron thick ETFE F-Clean single-layer film, allowing light transmission of up to 93%—ideal for plant growth and energy efficiency.
  • Irrigation:
An overhead irrigation system is installed in each tunnel, featuring Dan Green spin sprinklers controlled by a Galcon irrigation controller for precision watering.
  • Benching:
The two 32.0-metre-long tunnels include mobile benching systems with weldmesh tops, providing flexible growing space and ease of access.
  • Intended Use:
The tunnels will support a wide range of experimental research, including trials on varieties of bean blends and other horticultural investigations.
  • Construction and Delivery:
All civil works were completed by Ebtech, ensuring seamless project delivery.

  • The entire installation was completed on schedule, in time for Warwick University’s Open Day.
