UK Agritech Centre - Venlo Roof Replacement
Ebtech Glasshouse Systems was commissioned by the UK Agri-Tech Centre to participate in an innovative experimental project aimed at advancing research in greenhouse renovation and environmental control technologies. The project was located within the glasshouse facilities on the University of Warwick's Wellesbourne campus.
The scope of the work involved the complete removal of the existing ETFE roofing system covering a total area of 1,228.8 m². This comprised four bays, each 9.60 meters wide (totalling 38.4 meters), and eight sections of 4.00 meters in length (totalling 32.0 meters).
Following removal, Ebtech installed a completely new roof guttering system. The roof was then re-glazed, half with new ETFE panels and the other half with traditional float glass. This dual-material approach was designed to support comparative research into the different growing environments provided by each glazing type.
Additionally, the venting systems across each of the bays were fully renewed. The project also included the replacement of selected elements of the existing thermal screening, heating, and grow gutter systems to ensure compatibility with the upgraded roofing structure.
