PROJECT

Tenterden Garden Centre - Venlo Extension & Bespoke Structure

Ebtech Glasshouse Systems, in collaboration with our Dutch partner Smiemans, successfully delivered the design, supply, and construction of a new entrance canopy and glasshouse retail space at Tenterden Garden Centre in Kent.

The project comprised a glasshouse area of 170m2², complemented by a front canopy of 62m² that provides a covered entrance for customers visiting the centre.

The roof of the glasshouse was finished with 60mm insulated sandwich panels for enhanced thermal performance, while the walls were glazed using heat-reflective insulated glass to optimize light and temperature control. The entrance canopy roof was constructed using opaque polycarbonate glazing to provide diffused natural light and weather protection.

Despite the relatively compact footprint, the build presented unique challenges. The new structure had to be precisely integrated into a non-standard, angled space between an existing glasshouse and a polytunnel, requiring it to connect seamlessly with both. A doorway was also installed to create access between the new glasshouse and the adjoining polytunnel, accommodating the irregular angle to maintain functional flow to the plant area.

This project highlights our ability to deliver bespoke, technically complex structures tailored to the unique constraints of each site.
