Stewarts Nurseries - Turnkey Glasshouse

Ebtech Glasshouse Systems Ltd successfully delivered a comprehensive turnkey glasshouse project totalling 6,732m², comprising four distinct zones and a fully equipped plant room.

Work Area - The first zone features cladding made from insulated sandwich panels, complete with rooflight panels and side wall windows to maximise natural light. This area includes a dedicated, internally clad classroom space for educational use, while the remaining section serves as a machinery and potting area.

The structure spans 12.80m wide by 64.0m long, providing ample open workspace. Growing Zones Connected directly to the work area are three dedicated growing zones, designed with 9.60m bay widths, 4.0m section lengths, and a 4.0m post height.

Each zone includes a full set of container benches with ebb and flood trays, integrated into a fully automated irrigation and drainage system that feeds into a central reservoir.

Manual watering points are also strategically placed throughout the zones for additional flexibility. To streamline production, the benches are fully mobile and transferable between zones via transport lines that run through motorised hatches in the partition walls. Each hatch is accompanied by a personnel access door for ease of movement between areas.

All growing zones are fitted with a Harmony 5747 FR thermal screen, offering optimal shading and temperature regulation to ensure ideal growing conditions year-round. Plant Room & Environmental Controls

The final zone, the plant room, measures 9.60m x 12.0m and is clad in insulated sandwich panels. It houses the main utility systems, including the irrigation control rig, mixing valves, general electrical equipment, and a ground source heat pump.

Environmental conditions throughout the facility are managed by a Hotraco climate control system, which includes remote access functionality, allowing the client to monitor and adjust growing conditions off-site.

Heating System by Ebtech Energy Systems,  our sister company, was responsible for installing a zoned piped heating system across the entire facility. Underfloor heating was also incorporated into the education classroom for added comfort.

The entire system is powered by a ground source heat pump, ensuring sustainable and energy-efficient operation.
