Plants Plus Garden Centre - New Shade Screen Installation

Ebtech Glasshouse Systems has recently completed a shade screening installation spanning three zones, covering a total of 3,686 m² for Plants Plus Garden Centre in Newcastle.

The project included the removal of the existing screening system within the 2,458 m² growing area, which was replaced with a modern rack-and-pinion screening system. For this upgrade, the team selected Svensson B.V.’s Harmony 5220 FR cloth—a fire-retardant material offering 52% direct shading and delivering energy savings of up to 20%.

In addition, a manual screening system was installed across the 1,228 m² shop area. This was designed to maintain a comfortable temperature for customers while protecting plants and products from bleaching.

Overall, the upgrade has enhanced environmental control within the glasshouses, helping to improve crop conditions, reduce operational costs, and create a more comfortable retail environment.
