Ebtech Glasshouse Systems have added another client to their impressive list of recent screen installations.
We have recently completed the supply and installation of a shade screening system at the new glasshouse complex belonging to Hawksmill Nurseries in Warwickshire.
The screen cloth chosen for this installation was Phormitex Lumina 40 O FR, providing a 40% shade but only a 15% energy saving due to the material being of an open weave design to allow the air to flow through, providing a cooler climate for the crop.
The fully fire retardant shade material diffuses and helps scatter the light into the heart of the crop to encourage a healthy plant growth.
Covering an area of 3,256m² the screen operates via a wire driven method attached to an aluminium profile leading edge, driven by a Ridder screen motor.
The screen was weighted at each side using chain attached into the screen cloth.
With our sister company, Ebtech Energy Systems installing the high level heaters, we had to ensure the screen system closed around the heater’s chimneys.
Working at a height of 4.5m the screen was installed successfully from scissor lifts.
The screen system will be linked to a climate control computer to provide the perfect environment at the required time.
